Meet The Mentors

Suchismita Chatterjee
Suchismita Chatterjee began her flute training under the guidance of Late Pandit Bholanath Prasanna, and later under the legendary flautist Padma Vibhushan Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. At Vrindaban Gurukul, she serves as a senior faculty member for the Certificate and Diploma levels of the Learn Bansuri Programs, focusing on raaga development, technique, and the authentic expression of Hindustani classical music.

Debopriya Chatterjee
Debopriya Chatterjee began her flute training under the guidance of Late Pandit Bholanath Prasanna, and later under the legendary flautist Padma Vibhushan Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. At Vrindaban Gurukul, she serves as a senior faculty member for the Certificate and Diploma levels of the Learn Bansuri Programs, focusing on raaga development, technique, and the authentic expression of Hindustani classical music.

Eligibility Criteria for the Programs
- FOR THE CERTIFICATE PROGRAM (ONE YEAR)
- Applicants must have finished SSC (Std. X) from Maharashtra State Board or its equivalent recognised by other institutions.
- Students should have basic knowledge about the techniques of playing flute and be able to play the basic Swaras with at least 1-2 years of learning experience.
- Students must pass an audition test supervised by Vrindaban Gurukul faculty.
- FOR THE DIPLOMA PROGRAM (TWO YEARS)
- Applicants must have finished the H.S.C. (Std. XII) exam from the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent recognized by another institution.
- Students should be able to give a 15-minute performance and demonstrate basic knowledge of ragas. Should have learnt for more than 2 years prior to joining the course.
- Students must pass an audition test supervised by Vrindaban Gurukul faculty.
- Admission to the Bansuri Program Mumbai University is completely at the discretion of the Vrindaban Gurukul guidelines.
- The audition process and the course selection for a student is at the discretion of Vrindaban Gurukul.
- Acceptance to a particular course, including promotion and demotion of a student is at the discretion of Vrindaban Gurukul. In case of promotion or demotion the student will forfeit the admission requirement for the particular course.
- Passing both the academic exam and the audition is necessary for eligibility.
- The audition test plays a vital role in evaluating applicants' musical skills and deciding their suitability for the program.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Certificate and Diploma course in Learn Bansuri courses are conducted in hybrid mode i.e both online and offline simultaneously. Students in Mumbai if opting for the Online Classes, have to pay an additional charge. Students outside of Mumbai, can avail these classes online but have to be present at the Gurukul (Mumbai) once every 8 weeks (2 months). Note Auditions and Exams have to be taken in person at the Gurukul

Every applicant must be able to play the Bansuri (Flute) in Sur and Laya. This is the most basic requirements. Other criteria are listed in the section “Eligibility Criteria” above.
